We’re excited to announce we are refreshing Runaway Bay, providing the local community with a new fresh food precinct, new waterfront dining and a 1.3MW solar energy system to help power the centre with clean, renewable energy.
Fresh Food Precinct
Our new fresh food precinct will provide customers with more choice adding fresh produce and speciality ingredients retailers including Steak Kings (opening 19 July) and Broadwater Market alongside the convenience of Aldi, Coles and Woolworths.
Works will take place from February to July introducing new lighting, tile flooring, comfortable lounge furniture, and oversized planters bursting with greenery, all following a Queensland-inspired, relaxed and coastal design theme.
The majority of work is scheduled to take place outside of opening hours with Aldi, Coles and Woolworths all remaining open to lessen the impact on our customers.
Casual Dining Precinct
Stage two of reinvigorating Runaway Bay is the development of a stunning new casual dining precinct with alfresco seating and water views, taking advantage of the centre’s unique location.
Designed to fit seamlessly with the new fresh food precinct, the casual dining precinct promises the same relaxed and coastal design to complement its abundance of natural light and free-flowing space.
Dining operators in the precinct will close during works however for your convenience we’ve still got some great dining options open throughout the centre.
The new-look precinct will welcome back Crema Espresso, plus new retailers Cafe Bella, Roll’d and Sushi Hub, with works scheduled to be completed in late October 2021.
Solar Energy System
We’re making the most of the beautiful Gold Coast weather by installing a 1.3MW, 2,908 panel solar energy system to our rooftop. To put that into perspective, that’s enough energy to power 370 average Australian homes each year.
Employing 20 local solar contractors, the installation is already underway and will be switched on by April, helping power the centre with clean energy.
The new solar energy system at Runaway is the 20th in the Vicinity portfolio and is part of its nationwide $75 million-dollar, industry-leading solar program.
