This month, we are shining the spotlight on the team, the friendly faces behind the newly refurbished Runaway Bay Tavern.

1. What do you enjoy most about the business?
We love the variety of people we see throughout the week. You might have families enjoying dinner in the bistro, locals catching up over lunch, a group watching the footy or regulars settling in for live music on the weekend.
There’s a really nice mix of generations here. It feels like a proper local pub – somewhere people can come for an occasion, but also somewhere they can drop into as part of their normal week.
2. A favourite item on the menu and why?
The Queensland Prawn & Lobster Roll is one of our favourites. It’s fresh, generous and feels very suited to the Gold Coast.
We also love the Sunday Roast. There’s something about a roast at the pub that brings people together, and it’s become a real part of the week for families and regulars.
3. A memorable moment.
One of the nicest things since the refurbishment has been seeing people return and make the new spaces their own.
We’ve had families sitting together in the beer garden, with the kids playing while the adults enjoy a meal, as well as grandparents bringing their grandchildren in and regulars coming back to watch the footy. It’s been rewarding to see the venue working for so many different people at once.
Those everyday moments are what a local pub is all about.
4. What can first-time visitors expect?
We hope they feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. We want people to feel looked after, whether they’re joining us for a quick lunch, a family dinner, a game of sport, a private function or a catch-up with friends.
Ideally, they leave feeling like they’ve discovered somewhere they could come back to regularly – somewhere relaxed, welcoming and easy to enjoy.
5. One thing the Team wants everyone to know.
We’re here for the everyday moments. A meal after work, a family dinner, a Sunday Roast, a game of footy, live music, a celebration or function, or a casual catch-up with friends.
Runaway Bay Tavern is a place for the local community, and we want people to feel that it’s their pub – somewhere familiar, welcoming and worth coming back to.
